Juventus Earns Perfect Score as Sustainability Pioneer in Italian Football

Juventus has emerged as Italy’s first football club to fully adopt the European Union’s CSRD framework and integrate it into its annual financial reporting. This move marks a major milestone in governance transparency across Serie A, positioning the Turin-based club as a leader in environmental and social responsibility. Their commitment reflects an understanding that excellence in modern football extends beyond on-field success.
Throughout the 2024-25 season, the club conducted an extensive double materiality assessment to evaluate both its environmental impact and the financial implications of ESG risks. Juventus also introduced a comprehensive sustainability strategy called Black, White & More, which spans governance structures and grassroots volunteer initiatives. A dedicated ESG team has been active since 2013, and sustainability targets are now directly linked to the remuneration of senior executives, strengthening accountability throughout the organization.
This framework has already generated notable achievements. Juventus secured a gender-equality certification from Bureau Veritas Italia and claimed the 2025 Social Scudetto from VITA Magazine with a flawless score across five strategic categories. Recognition from Università Cattolica highlighted the club’s leadership in stakeholder engagement, strategic planning, and reporting tools. Initiatives such as Juventus One, which involves over a hundred athletes with disabilities, and long-standing cooperation with Save the Children further demonstrate the club’s commitment to inclusion and social impact.
The club has also taken significant steps toward environmental sustainability. Partnering with Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Juventus has begun calculating Scope 3 emissions, including fan travel, to better understand its ecological footprint. Pilot programs offering free public transport for young supporters have already prevented a substantial amount of carbon emissions, comparable to the annual absorption of hundreds of trees. These efforts underscore Juventus’ determination to expand its role from a football powerhouse to a proactive steward of the planet.
