Heavy Sanctions Rock Indonesian Football as Persija Hit Hardest by PSSI Ruling

The PSSI Disciplinary Committee has once again issued a series of sanctions following hearings held in early December 2025, affecting several clubs across the Super League and Liga 2. Teams such as Persija Jakarta, Persebaya Surabaya, PSIM Yogyakarta, and Persita Tangerang were all impacted by the latest decisions. Among them, Persija emerged as the club suffering the most significant consequences.

Persija Jakarta received two separate punishments stemming from their home match against PSIM Yogyakarta in Super League week 14 at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium. The first sanction came from a serious administrative lapse, as the late arrival of Persija players delayed the start of the first half by nearly two minutes. This incident resulted in a substantial financial penalty imposed by the disciplinary body.

Further damage followed due to crowd-related issues during the same match. Supporter misconduct in the stands led to an additional fine, compounding Persija’s financial burden. With these new penalties added, Persija’s total accumulated fines this season have risen sharply, placing them among the most heavily sanctioned clubs in the competition.

Persebaya Surabaya were also penalized once again, continuing a worrying trend for the East Java side. Their latest fine was handed down after a match against Bhayangkara FC, where multiple players and a team official were booked, adding to an already sizeable amount of disciplinary sanctions collected earlier in the season.

The ripple effects of the disciplinary hearings extended to Liga 2 sides as well. PSIM Yogyakarta and Persita Tangerang were both fined after their supporters attended away matches despite restrictions. These rulings underline the firm stance taken by the PSSI Disciplinary Committee in enforcing regulations, as clubs across different levels face mounting consequences for on-field and off-field violations.
