Arema FC Bolsters Defense with the Signing of Brazilian Center-Back Walisson Maia
Arema FC has continued to make moves in the mid-season transfer window of the 2025-26 Super League, officially unveiling Brazilian defender Walisson Moreira Farias Maia just before the team’s departure for their 20th league match. The arrival of the center-back reflects the club’s determination to strengthen the squad as the competition enters its second half.
The decision to recruit Maia followed a comprehensive evaluation carried out by the management and coaching staff. Their review concluded that the defensive line required additional depth and experience to improve stability and maintain consistent performances throughout the remainder of the season.
Club officials emphasized that the signing was not a last-minute move but the result of a careful selection process. The coaching team had been assessing potential candidates who could match the tactical needs of the squad and contribute immediately once integrated into the team structure.
Arema FC hopes the Brazilian defender can adapt quickly to the playing environment in Indonesia and bring leadership to the back line. With his physical presence and professional background, he is expected to help reduce defensive vulnerabilities and provide greater balance to the team’s overall play.
Maia’s arrival also completes Arema FC’s quota of 11 foreign players for the season.
