AC Milan Continues Pursuit of Gonçalo Inácio as Sporting CP Lowers Asking Price
AC Milan remains interested in signing Sporting CP central defender Gonçalo Inácio during the summer transfer window after the Portuguese club reportedly reduced its asking price to €40 million. Despite the lower valuation, the Italian side is still seeking a more favorable deal before moving closer to a final agreement.
Strengthening the center of defense remains one of Milan's top priorities ahead of the new season. The club continues to evaluate several options, with Mario Gila, Virgil van Dijk, and Inácio emerging as the leading candidates to reinforce the back line.
Reports suggest Milan has allocated between €30 million and €35 million for a new central defender. That budget is considered sufficient for some of the available targets, but additional funds would likely be required to complete a move for the Portuguese international.
Sporting CP's previous €60 million release clause is no longer viewed as a realistic market valuation, prompting the club to lower its expectations. Even so, Milan is continuing negotiations in hopes of securing another reduction that better matches its financial plan.
The two clubs are expected to continue discussions as Milan works to balance its transfer ambitions with budget limitations. If an agreement can be reached within the club's spending framework, Inácio could become one of the key defensive additions for the upcoming season.
